Increase the speed of your projects: Tips and more.

As we all know, for the development of projects it is necessary to have a basic structure and/or methodology designed for the fulfillment of objectives and goals previously set. Some methods can take longer than expected or even develop in a short one without the expected results. That’s the reason why this Blog presents some advice, techniques, and methodologies that allow an agile development of the same projects and have great results.

Some of the advice and structures of organization that would be presented are based on agile methodologies, as it is SCRUM’s framework. This system allows daily and weekly monitoring for the identification of obstacles that can be presented and the way to solve them and overcome them to streamline the development of the project.

The Agile principle consists of giving projects speed and flexibility, it seeks to divide the project into parts to work one at a time, validate it and continue working or testing a solution for the initial problem. This constant validation allows us to reduce the project’s risk and increase the success probabilities. We must consider that we are in a time where progress occurs so fast and constant, that having a delay in a project could mean the death of it.

To achieve such agility and efficiency on projects, the SPRINT is considered the pillar that is shown by a variety of methodologies. What is? Is a period defined in which is developed the activities for the fulfillment of the objectives? This simple concept contributes much of the value of the methodology by defining a short-term work period ensuring a physical deliverable with which the solution with the work team and the stakeholders are validated.

Tips to speed up your project

1. Make daily standup meetings

At the beginning of the day, spend 15 minutes with your team communicating what they are doing, what is the next thing to do, and what are the obstacles that are presented to them to carry out their activities.

2. Prioritize the deliverables

Consider the importance of each of the pending items and the time it may take. This way, we ensure that the most important pending is done first

3. Estimate your times

Set 3 types of times:

  • Optimistic time

  • Realistic time

  • Pessimistic time

With these three times, you can approximate the real-time that will take to complete the slopes and measure how much work you can do in the SPRINT.

4. Discover your technique or work methodology

Everyone has a way of working. That is why, when discovering it, you must keep it. This allows you to create a base structure for greater efficiency.

5. Generate To-Do Lists

Most of the time we are not aware of what we already have in progress. Make a list of pending items and divide them into "Pending", "In progress", and "Completed".

6. Create a space for reflection

At the end of a SPRINT, have a feedback session where you can see what went well and what needs to be improved. This will allow you to have continuous improvement and be better every day.

Counting on this advice and with continuous feedback between the team and the stakeholders, we can make the necessary modifications for a better result.

These recommendations have been implemented by several companies at an international level. By adapting to the strategy of agile’s SCRUM framework the companies have increased their productivity by more than 100%. An increase in productivity causes as a consequence an increase in availability, generating an advance in the implemented ideas and the process of developing projects.

As a company that implements such methodology and work strategy, we can suggest that SCRUM’s results are favorable for those who implement them; ensuring that the results increase in efficiency, reduce development time, and in turn, the risk involved.
